I've never been good at just writing a blog. mostly i simply post stories i've written for class or fun. but after talking to some people about writing, i've decided it'll be good for me to simply write to write, so here it goes!
i'm graduating this year so obviously i've been thinking a lot about the future, what i should do, where i should live, where i should work. you know, the usual post graduation freak out that for the last 4 years you've planned nothing and now you have to go into the actual world and fend for yourself, it's great let me tell ya! it really isn't as bad as that sounds, but it is something i've been thinking about a lot lately.
josh and i have been talking for a while about getting tattoos (bare with me, this is still on topic) my younger sister has one on her foot that is really cute so i've considered getting one there. i already have one, an i'm a cool senior in high school and am old enough to get a tattoo decision that i don't necessarily regret, just probably would have thought about it a little more before getting stuck with the needle. needless to say, this future tattoo is one i'm taking my time figuring out what to get. One of my favorite verses is in Romans 1. i first really thought about verses 16 and 17 during chapel one day. Doc Harris is the king of writing new songs and putting scripture to music for us to sing and this was just another day when he had done just that.
side note: i still remember all the verses i learned as a
child when we sang them! awesome idea for getting
memorizing scripture!!!
anyway, the verses say this "For i am not ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. (here's my favorite part) For in it, the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, 'the righteous shall live by faith'."
i feel like i don't even have to say anything to describe how powerful these verses are! this is supposed to be my life, a life lived by faith, a life unashamed of the Gospel, of my Lord. i love it! so my idea for a tattoo is just four little words on my left foot, from faith for faith. i love this verse because it's helped me so much with this whole deciding my future thing.
i've never been one to freak out about the unknown, i don't get stressed about stuff i don't understand or have completely planned out. i came to BBC without really knowing anything other than it was a Christian college and it wasn't in Iowa. i had never visited, didn't know any students, it was completely new, but i didn't really care. so this whole being a little nervous about what's next in life is all new to me. that's were these verses come in.
God doesn't tell me that my life needs to be one of publishing and prize winning writing, of marriage and kids, of apartments or houses, of cars and insurance, those things are all fine, but my life needs to be one unashamed of His word and His message, one of faith in the One who's righteousness is what saves me. So even if i don't know what'll happen after i walk the stage in an extremely flattering black graduation sack, tassel swinging across my face, it doesn't matter.
